How to Play Tongits
Basic Rules
- Objective: Be the first player to empty your hand by forming valid melds (combinations of cards).
- Starting the Game: Each player receives 13 cards. The remaining cards form the draw pile, with the top card placed face-up to start the discard pile.
- Gameplay: On your turn, draw one card from either the draw pile or the discard pile, then discard one card from your hand.
- Melds: Form sets (three or four cards of the same rank) or sequences (three or more consecutive cards of the same suit).
- Winning: Declare "Tongits!" when you have no cards left after forming valid melds, or have the lowest point total when an opponent declares.
Valid Melds
- Three of a Kind: Three cards with the same rank (e.g., 7-7-7, Q-Q-Q)
- Four of a Kind: Four cards with the same rank (e.g., 5-5-5-5)
- Sequence: Three or more consecutive cards of the same suit (e.g., 6-7-8 of Hearts)
- Three Card Combo: Special combinations allowed in some variations
